Considerations which can help us help you:

If you wish to have Bighorn forge create a special piece of ironwork for your home or business, you can help us to both understand and accomplish your goals for the custom ironwork, by first considering and then providing us with the following:

  • The rough idea of what it is you want made.
    • The length, width, and height of the piece.
    • The size of the space/area the ironwork needs to fill.
  • Providing a rough sketch is helpful, but not necessary.
  • Should the design be simple or ornate?
  • What is the nature of the environment in which the ironwork will be installed?
    • Interior or exterior?
    • Photographs of environment are helpful, but not necessary.
    • (PLEASE….do NOT send photos by e-mail!!)
  • What color do you wish to have the work?
      • Painted
      • natural waxed finish
      • patinated
  • Is there a particular style you wish?
      • Gothic
      • Renaissance
      • Rococo
      • Arts and Crafts
      • Art Nouveau
      • Art Deco
      • Contemporary, etc.
  • Is the work for an existing or soon to be built structure?
    • Names, addresses and phone numbers of
      • Contractors
      • Specific Workmen
        • Carpenter
        • Mason
        • Electrician
      • Interior Designer
      • Local building inspector (if needed)
  • What is your lead time?
  • What type of budget do you have to spend on the custom work?

While all of these considerations may not be necessary in order to get the process started, by providing pertinent information, you will help keep costs down, and speed the process along.
